International Swindon Founders - The Resilience of the UK Tech community

In our first International Founders of 2021, we're interviewing Andrew Elwick, Head of Technology and Creative, Department for International Trade to review the UK Digital Landscape for 2020, look forward into 2021 and the impact, as well as opportunities in our community.

What does the UK have to offer a tech company? - we'll be talking about the investment landscape, highlighting key recent successes and insight in to the technologies driving opportunities in key vertical markets

What are the key challenges and opportunities for our sector? How do we grow our own talent as well as attracting candidates from across the world, and how do our ecosystems collaborate to build a national network for all flavours of tech.

Andrew will also be offering his top tips on what to do, and avoid when moving to the UK as well as outlining the resilience of our sector during a time of huge economic uncertainty.

We'll then have a round table panel discussion focusing on our region with;

Phil Clement, Head of Investment and Export, Swindon & Wiltshire LEP

Andrew Wells, Economic Development Officer – Inward Investment, Swindon Borough Council

Russell Frith, Inward Investment Manager, Wiltshire Council

This will be an interactive session - we'd love you to come along with questions and is ideal for International Founders looking to move to the UK as well as UK founders interested in a national perspective of the tech sector.

Swindon Founders is a regular meet-up for people based in Swindon & Wiltshire who have been, are, or want to be tech start-up founders.

Going virtual means we're welcoming attendees from across the UK - everyone is welcome!

We aim to connect local entrepreneurs with co-founders and other like-minded people as well as tech investors to create an informal support network.

Our focus is on scalable and disruptive tech businesses.

We welcome entrepreneurs and tech investors with open arms but discourage freelancers, consultants, lawyers and other service providers unless they have a genuine interest in founding or mentoring start-up businesses.

We have a strict 'no selling' rule at our events but do get in touch if you'd like to know more about the Tech Swindon community as we might have another way for you to engage.
